Athletes from ten countries came to Japan to take part in the WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup 2023, which was held in Tokyo in October. While in Japan, the athletes enjoyed sightseeing and cultural exchanges in Tokyo during breaks in training in preparation for the tournament.

The Czech Republic team toured the Japan National Stadium and Takeshita Street, the iconic shopping area in Tokyo’s Harajuku district. Team member Jindřiška Mateřanková greatly enjoyed her tour of the Japan National Stadium, commenting, “The National Stadium was large and impressive.”

The team representing Chinese Taipei took a tour of the Japan National Stadium and also visited the observation deck at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. Head coach Mei-Fen Chen said, “During our time here, I want the team to experience things that are popular right now with young people in Japan.”

A number of hotly contested games were held over the nine days of the tournament, with the team from USA emerging victorious as champion of the first U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup.
